Night Point Form Essay
In the novel Night, written by Elie Wiesel, several different themes and social commentary are shown. He demonstrates that faith is lost when people are put into difficult situations. Loss of faith in humanity, family, and god are shown throughout the memoir.
Point 1
Loss of faith in humanity is present throughout the memoir.
-When Elie’s father was struck, and Elie didn’t help him. He was worried about his own death.
-Rabi Elialhu’s son didn’t care when his father fell to the back of the line (could have died).
Point 2
Loss of faith in family
-Elie didn’t do anything when he was separated from his mother and sister
- When Elie’s father is sick and dying, he loses faith in keeping him alive
Point 3
Loss of faith in god is shown throughout the memoir.
-Elie loses faith in god (how could he do or let something so horrible happen)
-Elie didn’t know why he should bless god’s name (doubt)
-Elie’s father tells Ellie not to fast on a religious holiday
Elie Wiezel tries to show reader that faith is important to always have. It keeps people persevered. Without faith, all hope and morals are lost.
