Halfmoon Investigations

Well, all I can say about this book is....... Wow! This book is full of action and suspense. This book is about a 12 year old boy named Fletcher Moon. He has officially been named the youngest detective of the world and is totally certified. He is serious and on real cases. But when April, a fellow classmate asks him to solve a case, his world starts turning around.

April has lost a piece of a famous superstars hair. It is her prize pesetion. She thinks that the suspect is Red Sharkey. The Sharkey family is one of the most known families. Maybe not the way you think though. They are one of the most trouble makers in the city. They have done all these crimes and never got caught.
Now it is up to Mr. Moon to solve the case.

He goes deep down into the dark trenches to find more about the Sharkey's.....

(he even goes through the police files and records to find more about the Sharkey's) (it is illegal to do that)

But when he gets his hands dirty into the game, things start to happen. He gets hit in the head by a dark figure and he gets framed for a fire that happened that he didn't commit. He has to solve the case or he is guilty. Read more to find out about Mr. Moon and his investigation.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I love how there is action and suspense throughout most of the book. You will never know what will happen next. The turning points are so unpredictable, you can never catch what will happen next.

The characters of the book are very rich. You can feel what is happening in the conflict between the characters. You get so attached to them that you don't want anything bad or devastating to happen to them. Fletcher Moon is the main character and the protagonist. He is outgoing, serious, and a detective. April is part of one of the popular groups. She is a secondary character in the story. May, is April's cousin. In the book, they confirm that they always consider May, as the "best" between the 2 cousins. Red Sharkey is another main character. He is actually very misunderstood. Everybody thinks he is a bad guy because of his family's reputation but really, he is a kind person. And you just have to wait and see who the real antagonist is when you read the book.

I rate this book an Alexandria. This is because it is one of the best books I have ever read. I couldn't put it down. It is a real reader.

I rate this book:

Blog challenge- May 1st

As the blog challenge, we have to choose 2 books to put in the freezer. In the freezer is a metaphor used meaning keeping you away from the book. Now let me list you those two books:

1)Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment

2) Halfmoon Investigations

These 2 books should defiantly be put in the freezer.

The reason I think that Maximum Ride should be put in the freezer because when I read it, it was like I was such in a rush. I could not put the book down. It was one of the best books I have ever read. This is because of all it's content. It was full of action and suspense. There was no part where I could stop reading. Some of the times, my parents could not even take me reading it so much. I think they would want to put it in the freezer for me. I really enjoyed reading this book and it was one of the best.

The reason I find that Halfmoon Investigations should be put in the freezer is because of its turning point. I never thought that the book would end up like that. It turns in zig zags everywhere. It was such a confusion. When I found out who the culprit of the whole case and book was, I was shocked. Sometimes, all the shock is to much intake. Sometimes, I am not able to take that much shock. And this is why I think that I have to put this book in the freezer.

Now an extra book I would put in the freezer is Time of The Reaper. And I think that I would keep it in the freezer for good. That was one of the worst books I have ever read. There is so much missing. There is about 150-200 pages of nothing. Most of the action is in about 100 pages. I didn't enjoy the book.

There are always some positive and negative signs to books. But now that I have given my opinion on the books I should put in the freezer, lets wait and see what you think. Which books would you put in the freezer?

Review on book and bobby blog?

I was looking around for more information on my project. I was looking at trailers to get more examples for my trailer project. I was looking at the Twilight trailer. As I scrolled down the page I noticed it was a blog, it was all about Twilight. Not only the book, but the movie. There were also new updates about events or things about new releases.

I always loved cinema. It wasn't my passion but I liked talking about it. I always like to watch awards like the oscars, golden globes, BAFTA, etc. I love watching movies. Sometimes funny, and other times, I am using thousands and thousands of tissues. I always love talking about it. Now, I have found a blog about the movie Twilight.

I personally read most of the book Twilight. I didn't like it that much, but it wasn't like torture. It was basically about the love of a vampire and a mortal. I found the idea somewhat original. I wanted to find more scoops about the book and this is when I started using this site.

This site uses everything. It uses all the literary language needed. It also puts up the trailers and interviews to the movie. It also talks about upcoming events that are happening soon. I like the way the design of the blog is. It has so many visuals. I love how the blog is always updated with new things. I totally agree with this blog. All the content in it is precise and correct.

I might not like the book or movie Twilight, but this blog is the best thing for new inside scoops about upcoming news.

Blog challenge- April 24th

As this weeks blog challenge, I have to find 10 literary devices in my novel. This took me some hard effort because I didn't read so much of the book but here they are.

Protagonist is introduced officialy (Daisy)- page 1

Angel is introduced (Ryan)- page 3

Matriarch introduced(Mother Figure) (Daisy's Mother)- page 8

Imagery is found when Daisy talks about Miss Populars clothing- page 1

Hyperbole is used when talking about Samantha's outfit- page 1

Metaphor when explaining how Daisy and Ryan are so close- page 3 (We have known eachother since we have been in daipers

They use an aliteration on page 13.

They use Imagery when she is furious and goes upstairs to her room after a discusion with her mother- page 12

Aliteration is used on page 17 when Flo, the server uses her slng language to talk to Daisy and Ryan.

A metaphor is used on page 12, when they exlpain why Daisy doesn't have any pschich powers. She is a late bloomer.

Also on page 1, Daisy asks if Samantha is bringing a coffin with her. I thought it was like a metaphor like baggage but it turned out not to be any literary language.

Those are some literary language and devices.

So stay tuned for next weeks, blog challenge!

Dead is the new black!

You might think that from the title, this book is about a goth girl, but it is not. Actually, on the contrary. The book I am reading now is called DEAD IS THE NEW BLACK by Marlene Perez. This book has a captivating precis at the back leaving you wanting for more. Now, let me talk to you a little bit about.

This book is about a girl named Daisy. She goes to highschool like any other person, but her family is different. Here family is psychic. All her siblings and her mother are psychic except for her. Her father was normal to but left them. Daisy's best freind is Ryan Mendez. His father is a cheif police officer. They have known eachother since they have been in daipers. Their parents work together to solve crimes. With Daisy's mothers psychic abilities and a certified cheif police officer, it is perfect. It will be easier to solve crimes and cases. But Daisy never gets the attention she deserves. Just becasue she is not psychic doesn't mean that she can be traeted differently. But Daisy wants to show everyone that she can really help. Her mom's case is not going anywhere. But when she asks Daisy's sister, Daisy is furious. So she decides that maybe she could help. She meets Ryan at a Cafe and has an idea. Now I have to read and find out what her idea is and what she will be doing?

The cover of the book really affects peoples opinions. For example, on the book DEAD IS THE NEW BLACK, the cover is pink so you think it is more suitable for girls, but this is not true. Actually, it is for both genders. So always read the summary at the back of the book to find out and don't judge a book by its cover.

At the back of the book, and on the front cover, there are some reviews (quotes) about the books. They are written by famous authors. In this case, it is written by Nancy Holder, author of Pretty Little Devils. It is a teens novel for ages 12 and up.

So far, I think that this book interesting. I am not so captivated but it is good enough for me to rate it a Varadero. There isn't that many literary language used in the begining.

Review of blog!

Last week, I reviewed a blog on India. I always like to learn about new cultures. So this week, I wanted to review a blog about the tourism of Paris.

Paris is a wonderful city. It is usually referred as the city of lights. The blog that I am reviewing mentions about touristic attractions. He explains different places to eat, touristic attractions and clubs. He talks about the different streets in Paris and his experience.

I love how he explains everything in depth. He explains the different aspects in the culture and touristic areas. Many people visit France for the food and others visit the Eiffel tower. I have been to Paris a couple of times and I really enjoyed it. The transportation system is incredible. It is one of the best in the world. Also the health system is perfect.

The thing I like about this website are the visuals. There are many visuals. This helps when tourists can they look for something. They can use the picture to help them out.

Overall, I think this site is good. The one I visited last week was better. This isn't a very good site. I wasn't very interested while reading it.

Books, books, books #4

As you know, every week, I review a blog about booksor an authors blog. Now, I have difficulty finding blogs about books. But I found the perfect one. The blog of Stephanie Meyer. It might be a common blog to write about but it is original. Now let me explain my review.

Stephanie Meyers blog is suprisingly excellent. I have to admit that I am not a big fan of the twilight series, but the way she writes her blog is so unique. She always writes in such a different style then other writers.

In her blog, she explains new updates and things that have happned to her lately. The last post was on April 21st. She explains to her fans, or blogger readers about what she has done lately. She always has new posts about what has happned to her. Also, if you want new updates on her books, its the best place to go.

This website uses plenty of literary langauge. She is an author so she explains things thoughrougly. She has many visuals explaining her ideas and that is excellent.

I think that this blog has everything it needs to be sucessulful. It has a lot of information.

The beast in me is going down!

I have to say that from last week, me reading the beastly has really gone down. I need some action. There is no suspense anymore, the theme is leaving. I can't follow the story anymore! It is starting to get a little bit like I am tutoring this book. But, I liked it at the beginning so I am just hitting a dry spot.

This week, I read about Kyle Kingsbury changing his name to Adrian. He decided to change it because of the meaning. Kyle meant handsome. He wanted to change it to Foe that meant ugly but made a comment by saying " Who would name their child that?" (page 122). So he agreed on Adrian which meant the dark one. Will is still giving him classes to keep him occupied with work. And Magda, is always nice as she is so there is no change with her. Will and Adrian discuss about books all the time like Phantom of the Opera and The Hunchback of Notredam. Also, when trying to meet a girl online, Kendra explained that it is not true love when you do that. You have to meet her in direct. Kyle, hopeless, doesn't reply. Also, when the roses Will and Kyle (at the time) were wilting because of the change of season, Adrian felt sorrow. He wanted to do something about it but couldn't. On page 117, when he asked the mirror to one of the schools party. He then realises that even his best friends were happy that he left their school. They disliked him and that hurt Adrian. Then, after a flash, it became Halloween. Halloween was the only day where Adrian could feel comfortable walking around in his own costume. Everyone was wearing scary costumes so he would blend in. After that, he sees a party and goes in. It seemed to be a private school said Adrian. So he sits in the front when he sees the ticket girl is Dorthy from the Wizard Of Oz. They start talking to each other and get to know each other. He introduces himself as Adrian King and her name is Bronwen Kreps. They start dancing with each other and talking about hobbies. Bronwen is surprised when she sees that Adrian likes to Garden and read. But she doesn't know that the monster "costume is actually him. This is where I stopped so I have to find out and see what happens next.

In my opinion, I thought that this section I read wasn't very interesting. I mean, it was emotional but no action. Although I do want to see what happens with Bronwen, I have to wait and see. I think that the name Adrian is beautiful but I don't know why he changed his name. Kyle means handsome. So he might not be handsome on the outside but he might be on the inside. Also, I think that Kyle/ Adrian's personality has changed. He went from being selfish and self-centered to a better person. I like how kind Bronwen is so kind to Adrian. I also like how Adrian is so comfortable going out in Halloween like himself. If I were in the same shoes as him, I would feel the same way. I didn't like how Kyles' best friends back stabbed him by saying at the time that he was so nice and now that he said he is gone, they are so content of this news. They said they hated him. You can find many literary languages when he compares himself to a monster. That is when a simile is used. On page 132, you can see that he stutters when he says Adrian.... Adrian King. There are a lot of descriptions when he really has sentiments fro a person. Or if something strong happens to Adrian.

I rate this book so far:

India Travel Blog

You might not know but I love travelling. I travelled the first time on an airplane when I was 6 months! I guess it is a part of me. I like to discover new countries. I like to discover their culture, history, language, and many other things that come with it. It is so nice to always see new places. My favourite 3 travelling destinations that I have been are France (Paris), Egypt ( Cairo and Alexandria) and Cuba (Varadero). I enjoyed spending my time there so much that I used them as my manifesto. So now I am going to visit a blog of a destination of a country I haven't been. Can you guess where that is? It has so much culture and it has the 2nd largest population of the world. If you guessed India, then you are correct. This week, I am going to review a blog about India.

The site that I have found lists many peoples blogs about India so I visited a couple. The first one I visited is where a lady explains her journey in the Taj Mahal. She has been to the Taj Mahal 2 times and she loves it. She also explains a little about her journey getting there and about the story of how it was built. She explains the whole story with detail and she has high vocabulary. No literary language is used but there are plenty of visuals to look at. Although, she does use a lot if expressions while writing her blog. I think that some metaphors and similes will make this site the perfect blog for people who want to know about the Taj Mahal. Maybe also changing the design into a more attractive colour would be a positive thing for this blog. But I totally agree with it.

Now the second blog I visited talked about another touristic attraction. But not a man made attraction but a natural destination. This lady talks about her going to Avalanche. Avalanche is liking a camping ground. She talks about the mountains and the animals living their. She also explains her journey through the woods and has pictures backing up her information about where she went. She explains the average temperature at night and during the day so if people want to visit, they know what kind of weather they are going to. She even puts phone numbers down for information. The thing I really like with this blog is that it is very detailed. I had to skim through it to see what it was about. And she doesn't use any literary language. I think that using some literary language and not be so factual would make this blog much better as a reader. Also, as I said before, the design should be more colourful.

The last blog I am going to talk to you about is she talk about 2 touristic destinations that are cultural. They are the golden temple and the heathen temple. They also explain how they realised through their bus travel that there are people every where in India. They say that while the 12 hours of driving, people where everywhere. That is much different than here in Canada. They also went to pride of Hindustan which is similar to a parade and they enjoyed it very much. they think the India is one of the best travels they have been to. I think that this blog needs to emphasise more on different touristic places. They are not very detailed. Although they have a couple of of pictures of the touristic places they went, I wished they emphasised more on it. Although the design is not very good, the content has a lot of humor in it and it is great.

So now that I know, and that you know everything about India, I have to admit that the first blog was the best. It had everything I wanted. But the other 2 were great. But overall, very well done to the people who wrote them.

Books, books, books #3

Well one week, if you remember, I was talking about the book Sucks to be Me. Well now, I am going to talk about the authors blog, and her name is Kimberly Pauley. On the blog, she explains all the activities she has done throughout her journey after writing the blog. She regularly updates her blog with new posts and new things to be excited about. So, lets check it out!

The good thing with this blog is the background. The design is beautiful. The mix of colours really match with the style. And also, it is so ironic that she has red as one of the colours of the background. Her book is about a girl who has to decide whether to be a vampire or not. And the colour red symbloises blood which has to do with vampires.

Another thing I like about the blog is how there are a lot of visulas. She has a lot of pictures of her so that people can use it for assignments or if they actually want to know what she loooks like. She also has pictures of some of her meetings that she goes to sign her books. She explains that it was full and that many people were interested.

I also like how she likes to keep her blog interactive. She wants to keep comments coming on her blog. What she did recently that was very nice was that she gave a list of names. She explains that she needs a nickname for one of the charcters of her next book but doesn't know which one to decide. She asks the viewers of her blog to write comments and to vote to see which name would best suit the character and their personality. All good blogs should have something like that. It keeps the viewers interested.

She arranges her website with titles listing what is in which part so people don't get lost. She categorizes each section so that if people are looking to find something, it will be easier to look for.

So now that you know all the insides about Kimberly Pauley's blog, stay tuned for new and upcoming stuuf to be put on.

Here is a link to the blog: http://kimberlypauley.com/blog/

Blog challenge- April 17

This week as the blog challenge, you have to choose a chapter book that you read when you were a child . And you need to talk about it. I am going to talk mainly about the title, front cover, the precis, the plot, genre, tone, and theme.

Now when I was a child, I remember always reading Animal Ark. I love to read anything about animals. Animals are one of my favourite subjects to talk about. So, the book, in the series Animal Ark is foal in the mist. This books author is Lucy Daniels.

The main character and protagonist is Mandy Hope. She is a responsible girl who is very kind. Her parents art vets so she is always around animals. She loves to help them with her best friend James. James is Mandy's nbest friend at school, and out. They always work together cooperativly to get the job done.

When she goes to visit her cousin, she thinks that everything will be fine. But when she goes on a horse back riding with her cousin she gets lost in fog. When she is trying to find her way, she sees a foal in the mist. But then, the foal vanishes. When she tries to investigate on this mystery, Mandy finds out that a girl in the local area is having hard time accepting the death of her horse Curiosty. Mandy now had doubts that the horse that she saw was Curiosty. Has Curiosity not passed on yet? Is Curiosity the horse she saw in the fog? All I can say is that it all becomes good in the end. You have to read the book to find out.

Now I am going to talk about the title page. I think that it is excellent for the book. The title has a white foal with brown spots all over. According to the book, the foal on the cover is Curiosty, one of the main conflicts throughout the whole book. But the title really matches with the title page also. It indicates everything that is on the cover. The title say foal in the mist. And the cover shows that with a painting. On the back, they have a summary like what I did above to make people read the book. It makes people drewling for more.

Now I am going to talk about the actual title. The title is called foal in the mist. I think that it is perfect for the title. Because it is totally relevant to the book. That is basically what it is all about. That is how Mandy saw the foal. The foal was in the mist/fog.

The genre, tone, and theme are exactly the way I like them. the tone is dark throught most of the book. But the theme is mostly Mystery becasue they have to solve the case. The genre is mostly scary and frightning.

The reason I loved this book at the time was becasue of my passion for animals. I have 2 cats at home and I love being with them and spending time with them. That is the reason I cohse the Animal Ark series. But the reason I chose this book from the Animal Ark series is becasue it is a haunting. The series are categorized into different sections. Another reason that I chose this book is becasue it has the perfect theme, tone and genre. As a child, I loved reading this book, and I read it a couple of times. This book really brings back memories. This is a book I will never forget.

I think the beat in me is starting to loose some interest?

As you can see from my title, yes! I am getting a little bored from this book now. But it is true that most books have their own moments. At this point, Kyle Kingsbury, the main character now lives in a huge house. The house is quite old but it has its touches. The house is on 5 floors. Magda still works as the maid for the house.

After moving, Kyle stays their for weeks! He bored out of his mind!He watches the same movies all day and doesn't know what to do. His dad was back on the same schedule. He is working late nights and is never home. Sometimes I think that it doesn't really matter if you are rich or poor, as long as you are with your family or the people you love, that is really important. All I can say now is that Kyle can't take it anymore. I mean, he is a beast so he can't control himself. Also, he is a kid! So what happens is that he stands up to his father. He hasn't seen his father for days and he doesn't know what to do. He asks his dad for a tutor. And he asks for many other things. Before that he wasn't a beast, it didn't matter if he was a studious student. But now that he is all alone, he has nothing better to do!

So, one day, a blind man comes in his house. He discovers that it is actually his tutor! His tutor is a blind man and his name is Will. He also has a dog by his side to keep him safe and away from dangerous things. The name of Will's dog is Pilot. I can actually connect this to the actual world because there are blind people everyday all around us in our world. Some of them have dogs to help them get through. There is a special training for that. The dogs help the blind people very much.

So obviously, when Will comes, she doesn't know what Kyles condition actually is so he doesn't react. But strangely, when he tells Will, he has no reaction at all. He believes Kyle but this doesn't matter for him. What matters is Kyle getting tutored. At the beginning, I actually found Will very cold but after you get to know him better, you feel like he is a nice character. A character you can trust deep down. So for the next week, they become very close to each other, They spend so much time together.

One day, Will decides to bring some flowers and grow them. He got the idea from Magda to give him some fresh air. Kyle doesn't go out that much. But the thing that I liked that Magda did is she compared Kyle to a flower. He is always looking out the window. It is like he is looking for the sun she says. Then, Kyle realises that all this time, Magda has been so kind to him even though she got insulted by him. She is always there for him. He then puts the flowers down for her beside the stove in the kitchen.

But when she came to bring my dinner tray, I pretended to be in the bathroom and yelled at her to leave it by the door.

My rating so far:

Books, books, books! #2

Now that you have read my last week blog, I am now posting another blog about a new book! I am doing it about Maximum Ride. I know that I have done it for my challenge but this is the blog. In the blog, Fang is talking about new updates fro the books. He also gives perspectives and opinions.

There is a lot of humor and literary language found on the website. Also, they start the blog with a quote by Fang:" Welcome. Max gets to narrate the book, and I get my turn to continue the story from here. Though Max, Ig, and Nudge post sometimes too. Check back often, because when you have wings, anything is possible."-Fang

Also, in the blog, they put many pictures that the siblings take in New York that they like or that are interesting. Also on the blog, they explain arguments and their lives being with each other, annoyed and stressed.

They didn't really talk about any book on this blog but there is actually an extension with a totally new design with a little more information on everything including author books that are coming out by the same author and a little about the author. Even though they talk more about the books, there is still a blog about Fang, Max, Nudge, and Ig.

I think that the blog is really fun to read but it is not the best blog due to no information about the books. They really emphasize on their characters and not so much the actual book. But they have some pictures on their blog so this is a big thumbs up for the blog.

The blog is at http://maximumride.blogspot.com/
But it is continued at MAX-DAN-WIZ.COM

Blog Challenge- April 8th

Please, beware. If you don't like suspenseful books, full of action, romance, and some violence then this book isn't for you. Don't read this post or side affects will occur. Can you guess what book I am talking about a book written by James Patterson and has many sequels? If you guessed Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment, you are correct. For this week, as my book for the blog challenge, I chose Maximum Ride.

When I read the book the first time, I couldn't take all the action, it was to much for me. The characters were great and were very descriptive. They are so outgoing and down-to-earth. The main character is Maximum, she is the protagonist. And the antagonist are the erasers. The secondary characters are Iggy, Nudge, Angel,Fang and Gassman. I think the characters are so confused. They have been experimented by scientists in cages in labs. They don't even know who they're parents are? If I was in the same situation, I would be totally heart broken and would never even be able to live. They live on a tall mountain far from civilization. Also, Jeb Batcheldar, that turns out to be something he is not, was a father figure for Max and her siblings before he passes away. After Angel is kidnapped by the erasers. They kidnapped her and brought her to a facility in New York City. Max and her siblings now have to go fin her before it is too late. Because if they don't, Angel is doomed. They go through many stunts and hills to survive to get to New York to free Angel. In the end, they get through it, pulling so many strings, in a city they know nothing of. But, as Max said, they will never be safe. They have to keep running until they close that centre down. Until they stop it.

I really enjoyed this book and this is why I chose it. I read this book in one day during the Christmas holidays and I couldn't put it down. This book was to good to be true.

The first time I read it, I read it in depth jotting down everything that is important that I could. I needed to know everything so that I couldn't forget it after. I read every paragraph very carefully so I could catch everything. But this time I read it, I skimmed through it. I knew the story so well that I didn't need to read it in depth again. I just read through it very quickly. I mostly read the most important parts because they make the plot profile.

The characters in the book actually changed for me. They developed so much. They developed in their personality. I think that Max really was more tough when I read it this time than last time. She seems very straight froward. Even though she is kind all the time, she is only warm with her family. I don't blame her! From what she has gone through, I might not even be able to talk to anyone. Angel is kidnapped, so you see her a lot but not as much as some of the characters. Angel is like the little sister I never had. She is so cute. In the future, I think that they will each have their own powers to help save the world. Their characters are actually much better the second time I read it. I know them much better then I did the first time.

Now, I am going to talk to you about some of the literary devices found in the book. There are actually many literary language. I remember between page 4-7 when she compares Angel's brother, to a Gassman. She uses a simile. That's how he got his nickname. There is one example of foreshadowing where Jeb isn't actually who he really is. It is like through the whole book, I can see a movie running through my head. I imagine what the characters look like and the way they act. If that can happen when you are reading a book, then it is the right book for you!

First time I read the book the rating is:

Second time I read the book the rating is:

The tone of this book is dark. But the theme is revenge and suspense. Due to the content in the book (all the action), I think that this is the tone and theme. I have read the book twice now and they were the same both times. I think that being kidnapped, back stabbed, and revenge really shows reveals the tone and theme.

Review of book blog!

As you can see below, I did a review last week on a blog of a hobby or something you liked. I did it about cats last week where 5 cats talk about their life at their home. Well this week, I am doing a blog on food. Yes! I know that you might think that I am not a person that makes "good" food but it is true! I love to cook! I like to cook cakes, cookies and any type of pastry. Now here is my review to http://www.cookingwithamy.blogspot.com/.

Now the first thing I am going to start of is with the title. I think that it is a nice name but not that original. Though her slogan is very catchy. The title includes her name and is something you will remember but not different from others. In all though, the title and slogan is a good precis of the blog.

The second thing that I want to talk about is the content in the blog. If you go onto the link and on the blog, you can see that from the entries, this blog has been going on for a couple of years. In this blog, she explains some restaurants found in her city. She reviews them and has some recipes on their for you to cook. The good thing with this website is that they give the address of the restaurants. She also gives the name, postal code, and phone number if you need to contact them for any reasons like reservations. She writes about upcoming events like meetings, shows, or contests. This is actually very good for some restaurants and very bad for others because if she writes a good review about the restaurant and positive comments and complements, her readers will most likely be influenced with what she writes and try it. But, if she writes negative things about the restaurant, her readers will probably not go there. So many people are influenced with her words. I like her content very much even though she doesn't use any literary devices. Her content is detailed with a lot of refrences, recipes backing up her information. Very well done Amy!

Visuals: I think that this is one of the best things with this blogs. The visuals really bring out the meaning of what she is trying to explain in a review or even just describing a recipe. The visuals help describe the food or help people to see what it is like. She also mentions in one of her posts that she is going to re-design her blog. She is going to make it more modern. Practice makes perfect, that is what everyone says. That is a very good thing to have on a blog.

Amy's blog was excellent! It had everything needed except for literary devices. She describes perfectly and has many pictures that back up her opinions. True talent!

My favourite animal: cats!

I hope you enjoyed reading the blog review for the book Ann and Green Gables. That blog was the best! Now, I know everybody has a hobby. It can be sports, literature,e etc. A hobby can also be something you are interested in. This can change from person to person. Now, this week, I am going to review a blog of something I enjoy. Ans that is going to be cats. I have 2 cats at home who's names are Pinky and Magic and I love being around them. It fills me with joy and happiness. So this week, I am going to review a blog about 5 cats, it is called the five cat blog. It is about the life of 5 ordinary cats. They were all orphans and were adopted by a couple with a baby. The blogger is speaking in first person . The cats are talking about there life at there hectic home and they seem very kind. This is the bet thing about this blog. I love how the cats give there opinions on things that go on around the house. They talk about their troubles. The "cats" uses a lot of rich vocabulary and has a lot of humor in their blog entries. They also uses many metaphors and literay devices when they write about themselves. One of the humour that can be found is when a cat talk about his and her owner. The owner was content to finish all the cat work to be done at home. I think a better thing to add would be to add more about cats history and more about what types of cats they are instead of emphasizing on their life habits. In all, I think that it was a great blog to read and a lot of fun. Below, you can find some of the pictures of the cats. (Will be put above you)

Books, books, books!

As you probably know, there are books all around you! There are books in your home, at your school, and in your community libraries. But one thing you might not know is there are books on even the Internet. There are books on blogs and on google. Today, I am going to review a reader blog of a book. The blog I am going to review this week is the Ann and Green Gables blog. It is a blog about the book using many connections and relations with herself and her life. She speaks with a strong voice about how she discovered the book (in Scotland, spending time with her father). She also explains the characters thoroughly starting from the main character (protagonist), going all the way to the characters that barley have a role in the book. She explains the main character, Ann and her role in the book. She also explains the secondary characters like Gilbert, Martha, Marilla, and Diane. She doesn't use any literary devices but she goes so much in depth with the characters and story line that you feel you are actually reading the book. The thing I like the most about this blog is that she connects the book with herself so much. She explains how she was so excited to read the book. I think she likes to extend herself to her limits. She also talks a little about the author, L.M. Montgomery. She has a precis of each chapter. She puts many visuals in her blog including one of the many front covers of the book and a picture of her the year she discovered the book. She describes that it was the 100th anniversary of the book recently. There are reviews at the bottom of the blog that people wrote. I think that a nicer design or background for the blog would have made it more vibrant and more noticeable. I also think that the blogs words (font and colour) were very small and not the right colour. The colour was very light compared to the background and it was more difficult to look at. In the end, and overall, I think that the content of the blog is great, but the visuals and appearance, probably not.

The cover

Last week, I did a review on the books website or the authors website. This week, as the challenge, you have to review the book cover of the book Beastly. If you look to the side (on the left), you can see the front cover of the book, so you can refer to it. Now let me go in sections.

Lettering/Title: On the cover of Beastly, you can see a big bold title. The lettering is in red on the cover and in capital letters. There is a strange design with the title. You can see that there are thorns that are coming out of the words to make it interactive. The back also has the same lettering quoting "I am a beast". They also made the the lettering white. I personally think that the lettering is very original and that other books should use an example as this book for their own.

Picture: As you can see on the photo, there is a white rose. It is like from the the title of the book, a stem with thorns as you go up the cover. You can see a leaf also and then, a beautiful white rose blooms. On the back, you can also recognize a photo, if you have a keen eye. At the bottom, it is a red photo of a city. There are apartments and trees. There are not that many pictures on the cover but it is enough. The good thing is that the way the pictures are placed and the way they designed the flower is perfect.

Texture: This book is a paperback novel so there isn't any texture. That is the part that is a "downer" for this book. Though, if it was a hardcover, here are some ideas to make it. First of all, they could have the same thing for the outer layer of the book. But when you take of the cover and just have the book, there could be a dent of a white rose with the stem, thorns and the total design.

Size if words/fonts: On the cover, the font is the perfect size. It is readable and it is white and red. They are both very easy to read on a back background.

Meaning: When you look at the cover, does this book attract you? Do you know automatically after seeing the cover what the book is about, its genre, or tone? This is meaning. In this case, the front looks more like a book for girls because of the rose on it when really, this isn't the case. The cover (white rose) makes sense when you are between the 45th-50th page of the book. But really, the cover sets the tone and theme very well. Yes, it may be romance, and love, but in a very modernized way. But for both genders. In the beginning, I thought that this might be a novel suitable for girls, after looking at the title page (cover), but it really is different. Maybe they could have done half of the cover a beast and the other half, the white rose. I think this would have made more sense.

Colour and Sheen: The main colours found are white, red and black. Actually, you can't find any other colour. I think that the colours blend perfectly and that they are easy to read and clear. The black background and white font really make a contrast for the cover. I think the colours are amazing! The book has darker colours so the sheen isn't as noticeable. But, it does stand out in a different way.

Too busy?: If you ask me that question for this book then you might be crazy! This book is not even busy. It has the perfect amount of writing and pictures. There are nice pictures and there is enough room to even add more to the cover.

Quotes: There are actually many quotes at the back of the book reviewing it and making positive comments about the book. One of them was: "A delicious love story.... Romantics will adore this book."- Annette Curtis Klause, the author of Blood and Chocolate. The review and quotes help premier the book so it will attract readers to purchase it. I think that the quotes are very convincing.

Spine: The thing I like the most about the spine is that it doesn't have the same picture as it does on the front. It is similar but not the exact same. It shows the title of the book, the publisher and the last name of the author (Flinn). But the design on the spine is that after writing the whole thing, there is an extension going from the letter B like a long thorny stem and the comes out a little tiny white rose. The white rose symbolises the whole book.

Precis-quality of summary: On the back of the book, if you have read many books, most of books have a summary at the back. For the book beastly, the summary is perfect. It explains everything in detail including the climax and some of the main characters. They explain the timeline of the book thoroughly but not revealing anything serious. In my opinion, this summary shows the true story of the main character, Kyle Kingsbury, with an intriguing cliff hanger for you to want more!

Now that you have read my cover review, I hope that you enjoyed it and it let you have more of a craving, more thirsty for the book..... Beastly!
